  Instructions     
 
PREPARATION
1. Sand and seal all surfaces with Wood Sealer (except handle and post of buoy).

2. Apply Walnut Gel Stain to post.

3. Paint front surfaces of both pieces with Blue Mist.

4. Transfer horizon line pattern and tape off top section. Apply Faux Glazing Medium where tape meets horizon line. Let dry. (This works great in preventing leakage.)

5. Moisten water area with 3/4" angle brush. Side load* 1/2" angle brush with Prussian Blue. Using chisel end of brush, work water lines from side to side, leaving inconsistencies. While still wet, work Titanium White the same way. Remove tape and let dry.

6. Tape off below horizon line, apply Faux Glazing Medium; let dry. Using 3/4" angle brush, moisten sky area and float French Vanilla along horizon line to create clouds. Pull horizontal lines from clouds across sky. Remove tape and let dry.

7. Transfer patterns for land areas, large trees and ship.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Basecoat land Celery Green, seashore Camel, masts Burnt Umber, sails Titanium White and flags Deep Burgundy.

2. Water down Burnt Umber and Raw Sienna. Double load JS liner and work tree trunks and branches, pulling from the trunk out and turning piece upside down to pull towards you.

3. Transfer lighthouse and smaller trees on land. Basecoat lighthouse Driftwood and attached building Titanium White. Add roofs with 1:1 mix of Blueberry and Lamp Black.

4. Using Neutral Grey, Milk Chocolate and Camel and 3/8" angle brush, work stones on lighthouse by working small c's in assorted directions on moist surface.

5. Shade roofs with Lamp Black and angle brush. Work sectioned areas and flat pole with Lamp Black and liner.

6. Shade lighthouse down left side and under catwalk with Milk Chocolate. Shade light area with Raw Sienna; highlight with Titanium White.

7. Shade attached building with Neutral Grey.

8. Basecoat windows Lamp Black using #2 flat brush. Do liner work on windows and buildings with white and JS liner.

9. Using 3/8" angle brush, float highlight on top of hill with French Vanilla. Using Plantation Pine, float hill behind lighthouse. Float under lighthouse with 1:1 mix of Plantation Pine and Black Green. Pull grass up and around with liner and Celery Green, Plantation Pine and Pine/Black Green mix.

10. Using liner and Burnt Umber, put in small bark trees.

11. Shade flags with Black Plum. Highlight and add line work with white.

12. With Black Green, create center of fir trees. Using small fluffy brush, work foliage with Black Green.

13. Float Burnt Umber along shore line. Pull little lines with liner brush to create ridges.

14. Shade sails with Milk Chocolate.

15. Work waves on a dry surface, using heavily side loaded 3/8" angle brush and Titanium White.

16. Using Lamp Black and stylus, create top of flat poles. Create rigging lines with liner.

17. Work foliage on trees using a moist sponge and Plantation Pine, Black Green, Celery Green and Hauser Medium Green.

18. Double load JS liner with Driftwood and Titanium White and add sea gulls with shaky comma strokes.

19. Add stylus roses, if desired, by first stippling with Hauser Medium Green, then dotting Deep Burgundy, then dipping stylus in white and swirling. Add Black Green leaves.

20. Paint backs and sides Black Green (as shown on buoy) or with 1:1 mix of Blueberry and Lamp Black (as shown on mirror).

FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS
Spray with Americana Matte Spray.
